This is one of the times they were furiously chasing each other around the tank and barrel rolling around each other.
I have heard people say that her tank is big enough and give small reasons why it is adequet, but i disagree with this. To me, this is equal to giving a thoroughbred horse that needs room to run only an acre of land to live in. they can live, but by no means will they get to run and play in such a small space like most horses would get to do.
The reason I say this is from watching these two. As long as I have been going, I have NEVER seen her that active. It was great to see her twirl, zoom, and sin all through that tank while playing with the dolphin..but while the dolphin had room to speed around and do some acrobatics, when she would try to do the same, she would whack her tail on the cement. Once she had dove down and in an effort to get speed back up to catch up to Merlin who was on the other side of the tank, she smacked her tail on the bottom of the tank with such force I could hear it outside of they tank as a loud clap. She certainly has a lot of force.
It is really interesting to see her zooming around this tank, compared to the tank at Sea World and how the Orca there interacted in it.
i agree with you 100% but at least we feel they are happy! its just so amazing that two different dolphins would co-exist like that simply a nice feeling
In the show tank I'm sure she has room. But is this in one of the back tanks or the actual show tank? If so...poor girl...but I love this shot. It's beautiful to see them bond so well.
Her show tank is bigger. It is nice and large and deep, Enough for her to speed around in.
The tank in the photo is the largest of the three holding pools behind the show pool. i found this video: [link]DeE44ZhxsY it shows shouka in the largest tank(photo'd above) that is behind the show tank, with a younger Dolphin named Cupid. It IS a good sized tank, pretty comfy. I just happened to notice that it is not big enough to allows her to do some real speed swimming with out having to turn sharply or hit her flukes against the cement when playing.
Such a great photo, I've never seen any evidence of dolphins interacting with orcas on friendly terms, so this is definitely a wonderful site!
Very interesting view too, I think it goes for any animal that is within an enclosure. Aslong as they are treated well and are happy with the surroundings, who are we to judge and send them to the wilderness where they wouldn't survive?

I've seen a bottlenose dolphin and a shark swim and hunt together in West Africa. And in many other places, I've met dolphins of different species and very different personality work together and form close relationships. I agree with everything you say.
